Lightning Lacrosse is a family-operated club founded by Jay Sperling with one goal in mind, to continue growing the game of girls lacrosse in Western Pennsylvania while creating an environment where players genuinely enjoy coming to the field.
We believe athletes develop best when they feel supported, encouraged, and excited to play. That's why our coaches focus on teaching the game, building confidence, and creating a positive culture where effort, improvement, and teamwork come first.
One of the greatest compliments we receive is hearing players say they fell back in love with lacrosse after joining Lightning. Whether they were feeling burned out, lacking confidence, or simply needed a fresh start, our goal is to remind every player why they started playing in the first place.
At Lightning, we believe lacrosse should be challenging, competitive, and most importantly, fun. When players enjoy the game, they work harder, learn faster, and stay involved in the sport for years to come.
At Lightning, we encourage our players to be multi-sport athletes. We believe participating in different sports helps develop well-rounded athletes by building new skills, confidence, and different perspectives that carry over to the lacrosse field.
We also understand that athletes can't be everywhere at once. That's why our program is built around six-week sessions throughout the year, allowing families to choose the seasons that best fit their schedules. Whether you're playing soccer in the fall, basketball in the winter, or another sport during the year, you can still find opportunities to train and compete with Lightning when your schedule allows.
Our goal is to make sure no player has to choose between being a multi-sport athlete and continuing to grow their love for lacrosse.
Preseason Training
Kick off the year with six weeks of training designed to prepare players for the upcoming spring season and school tryouts. Sessions focus on speed, agility, stick skills, lacrosse IQ, conditioning, and building confidence before the season begins.
Summer League & Training
After a long spring season, summer is all about enjoying the game while continuing to develop. Our weekly league provides a fun, competitive environment with one game each week, while training sessions focus on stick skills, new techniques, and game concepts. It's the perfect balance of playing for fun while continuing to improve.
Fall Training
Fall is the time to sharpen fundamentals and build new skills without the pressure of a season. Players continue developing stick work, speed, agility, lacrosse IQ, and overall confidence, creating a strong foundation for the year ahead.
Winter League
Don't put your stick away! Our six-week indoor league keeps players active, competitive, and game-ready throughout the offseason with weekly games in a fun, fast-paced environment.
